Spark of Fire
Spark of Fire is a fictional novel based on fact and real horse experience. Spark of Fire was sired by Pyromaniac off of a Sparkling Moolah mare. Bred in New Mexico, he is owned by Tom and Nina Gonzales who live in Tres Piedras, New Mexico. Spark of Fire, the big stout roan, is as easy to the eyes as Nina her owner. Spark is a horse that would make anyone proud. He is magnificent looking and his training is beginning to demonstrate his potential.
Tom and Nina had retreated to Tres Piedras where they had found cheap land and elbow room to raise their daughter Vickie. At some point one of their horses, Spark of Fire, started to show a great potential for speed. Danny, Tom’s cousin, showed up two years into his training and the novel launches into a wild ride into the backside of the racing industry. The lure for fast money abounds in the horse racing industry. The people that live there are rugged and unafraid of the most spirited of those fast horses. This is a world where the possibility of broken bones is a daily diet. In this world you place your life on the line every time you mount a horse.
This novel takes you to a place where horses and ranch life factor into everyday life. When you arrive there, feeding time starts before dawn and life makes everyone fit. It’s easy to love Danny. His rugged good looks has a proven way with horses and women. The fact that he loves good times and unapologetic strong women lends itself to wild rides on and off the horses. Danny is well connected to the racing industry and Nina believes in Spark of Fire. Danny is the catalyst that leads Nina and Tom into the racing industry.
Within this novel lives vivid Northern New Mexico people rich with their past horse racing history. You will hear the heart of the horse beat in this novel. You will grovel in the mud with the people that know those animals and weep along with their pain. Mount up, you are about to embark on a vicariously thrilling fictional ride where you will feel the horse beneath you, and engage in the lure for the fast money. Get yourself ready for a hot ride on fast horses by strong men, and untamed women.
A Tale of Light and Darkness
Perhaps it was the New Mexico witch hunts of the 1700s and 1800s that fostered wild supernatural stories that have held so many locals and natives spellbound for centuries. Perhaps the fight between good and evil was brought to the Americas by religion and the customs of the old world. Welcome to a world where the fight between good and evil mixes to produce distinctive cultural stories and local, unique bogeymen. The effects on the culture of the Native Americans and the Spanish Europeans has been profound. The stories and the supernatural experiences continue today.
This novel features an all-Native cast of characters. Bowguard, a Jemez Native deep with his own spirituality and religious beliefs, acts as a catalyst for the fight between good and evil in this thrilling fiction. Has he witnessed the fight against the Dark People firsthand? Can saints or medicine men help to control the darkness of his world? What is it that is unnerving about a modern fight for the souls that surround him? When synchronicity meets sacred numbers and owls harvest souls, a cultural suspense story emerges that is riveting in its portrayal. This novel is exciting and it has heart.
